So my friends and I do this thing every year where we choose our Top 10 albums of the year and Top 5 songs of the year just for funizes and giggles. here's my list. I'm probably going to be playing some of these bands on Saturday's show.
On to the lists!!
Top 10 ALBUMS:
10. Jenny & Johnny : We're Having Fun Now

I think this album didn't get as much recognition as it deserved. I loved the album for what it was and I think it delivered great songs and songwriting. Jenny and Johnny make a great team and I hope the relationship lasts long enough for a second album :)
9. Fitz and the Tantrums : Pickin' Up the Pieces

This band blew up really fast and for good reason! Not only can you dance around in your undies in your room to this album but they are A-MAZING live. One of the best shows I went to this year! Check them in concert in you ever have a chance cause it's definitely worth it!
8. The Soft Pack : The Soft Pack

Everything about this album is fantastic! Every song on this album is catchy and if there is one thing I love it's a GOOD catchy song that gets stuck in my head for days and days. I saw them at FYF Fest during the summer and I fell in love even more.
7. Stars : The Five Ghosts

Such a great album! Stars is one of those bands you know will never disappoint and they delivered a great album! "I Died so I Could Haunt you" and "Fixed" are great songs of the album. Also when I saw them at the Wiltern in November I've never had a band be so grateful to their fans. And the keyboardist [Chris Seligman] gave me a rose and I swooned so hard I almost fainted :] ♥
6. Kanye West : My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Despite all the hoop-la around Kanye West and all his shenanigans I think this album was fucken amazing. I loved every song and I think he still kept great beats but was able to incorporate his new electronic touches. I thought it was great and whether you love him or hate him that boy can rap and make a great album.
5. Sufjan Stevens : The Age of Adz

Before I even heard this album I already saw/heard about how it was soooo different from anything Sufjan has done before and it was his "Ok Computer" album. After listening to it with an open mind I loved it. It is different but it still the same Sufjan with his hauntingly beautiful voice and amazing songwriting.
4. Belle & Sebastian : Write About Love
Pure Belle & Sebastian! The fact that I also saw them at Hollywood Forever Cemetery might also be why they are so high on my list :)
3. Best Coast : Crazy For You

I wanted to long for this record and Beth & Co. did not disappoint! It was filled with all the sappy love songs I wanted. I swear this woman is writing the soundtrack to my life!
2. Beach House : Teen Dream

Could this album be anymore perfect? Everything about it is so beautiful and haunting. Victoria's voice is so androgynous and Alex's use of guitar is fantastic. This is what dream pop is all about!
1.The Arcade Fire

It took me a while to actually listen to the album but when I did I was so mad for waiting as long as I did. I think I thought that with this album they might lose that special touch they have but they were still able to wrap their musical hands around my heart and squeeze my heart strings! How's that for some visual imagery?
